Global Activities / Re: CoinFest 2017 Activity Ideas
« Last post by sirwagginston on May 06, 2016, 10:57:31 PM »
We definitely need some type of live feed at set times between the CoinFests which are running on the same days!

Indeed! I think what we will do fairly soon is make a thread that lists days and times, and International Hangout speakers reserve slots. We note which slots will have events going on at that time and where they are, so people can get the prime time ones on a first-come first-serve basis unless they are a particularly valuable speaker like Andreas or sponsored us--then they get special treatment.

Definitely ! I am in touch with local area organisers and am hoping to come to agreement with how we should run the events. Looking forward to working with these different groups for CoinFestUK and future events.

Sounds exciting. Just remember not to spread your efforts too thin... I did that one year, and it nearly fell apart. If you find local organizers in other regions of the UK, though, it could work out very well.

You must also consider that it can divide your attendance. England, Scotland and Wales are not so far from each other. I think I would advise doing the others on different days from your main one such that it's possible to attend more than one  :)

Global Activities / Re: Bitcoin/Crypto education sessions

I think it's a good idea. We will avoid duplicating our efforts if we standardize the sessions so everyone can use the same materials like pamphlets and stuff. I moved this topic to the Activities section, though, because Fundamentals is for discussion about CoinFest itself, such as whether it should remain free and only held at Bitcoin venues, or if it should be held more often. Also the structure of the organization

Global Activities / Bitcoin/Crypto education sessions

I think a fundamental of CoinFest should be a firm of education session at each CoinFest either a simple step-by-step or mini course, we need to help people understand the basics before confusing them with the mathematics or mining.

I arranged for Portsmouth Crypto to to run a range of mini sessions which received awesome feedback and cover the basic topics

United Kingdom / CoinFestUK Plans
« Last post by BatesResearch on May 04, 2016, 09:01:06 AM »
Hey guys,

I'm looking forward to CoinFestUK 2017! and I have grand plans for the event. I am organising operating CoinFests around the UK in Scotland, Ireland and Wales to run simultaneous to the England based event.

I may run the Scotland, Ireland and Wales event just for one day but will detail more as time progresses.

I am planning in April 7th/8th for the CoinFestUK. This thread will grow as time progresses and I'll also post on BCT.

Switzerland / Plans for 2017 CoinFest events in Switzerland

We have done a CoinFest 2016 event spanning several days with the possibility to sleepover and intend to repeat this for 2017 at the D├ęcentrale up on Mont-Soleil:

You are welcome to participate in the organisation and programming for the next CoinFest on Mont-Soleil and we also would like to collaborate and linkup with other Swiss locations for the 2017 CoinFest using video conference streaming.

We will share our plans for 2017 here and hope you will do so as well  :)

Technical Development / Global Bitcoin Wallet
« Last post by sirwagginston on May 03, 2016, 07:59:16 AM »
As you've probably heard, CoinKite went down, and we were forced to evacuate all of our funds to an emergency 3-of-6 Copay wallet. Unfortunately, this wallet creates a new address for each transaction, which has compromised our Transparency System used to publicly track CoinFest's finances.

For that reason--as well as to allow more signatories--we need a new solution to handle Bitcoin donations... any ideas? I'll post again when I've thought of one.

Fundraising / Sponsors
« Last post by sirwagginston on May 03, 2016, 07:11:26 AM »
This is the thread where we'll list all of our latest sponsors so you know to speak nicely of them... existing sponsors can be seen on the homepage of www.coinfest.org. You can also post about potential sponsors you think we might be able to convince, but if it's an involved process, we might split the conversation into another thread.
