Feedback on a idea
« on: October 24, 2016, 04:29:29 PM »
Hey guys,

This is just an idea (and I know it goes against one of the fundermental rules of CoinFest!) but I think it has some justice as an idea that 'might' work.

What if we charge visitors were charged a £1 fee for a ticket for CoinFest but on attending CoinFest they receive this £1 back in Bitcoin as a paper wallet.

Well do u want to do this in order to get more people use bitcoins?
Maybe keep this as an option.

btw what is the footfall of last year and how many do u expect this?

Yep, the idea is getting bitcoin into more people's hands.

Footfall was around 100 people per day, not sure what to expect this time.

I still like the idea of keeping it free, but all the rules are open to discussion. The subforum for doing so is here... I don't know how to move this thread: http://forum.coinfest.org/index.php?board=20.0

I think this still might count as free attendance, though... It might be fine, unless somebody really doesn't have £1, maybe you could let it slide if that happens. It depends on how you got the paper wallets. If somebody gave them to you to give away, then that's not cool.

If you're basically selling them, though, converting their fiat to paper crypto, then I don't see the big deal. You're more like a vendor, at that point. They're allowed to make a small percentage fee in profit, even, to sustain themselves. Don't rip everybody off, though...  ;)

Thanks for the input!

The paper wallets would be generated by me only on a airgappd device.

Of course, the reason I run CoinFestUK is to help to people started in crypto, spread the word, let people see the amazing projects in the crypto world and connect people

(posted on Bitcointalk aswell for some more feedback)

So you can do that on spot as well right ? that is a good idea.. just saying that don't make it mandatory.

Also in the last event did you have someone there with a service like make you own coin? i was thinking about it, u know, if someone comes to the fest and really gets amazed ( can be some big shot guy ) and wants to start something of his own then we can give such opportunity. Just an idea on top of my mind.
